Week 1 recap

Some thoughts from week 1...Tony Romo appears to have recovered from the botched snap on the field goal in Seattle last January...what happened to the Arizona offense? That was so boring I fell asleep just after halftime (of course that was around midnight-this opening Monday Night Football doubleheader is pretty dumb. I watched bits and pieces of both games rather than made it a point to watch one game, which is what I usually do on Mondays. Oh well.)...knowing how the Patriots do things I'll bet Randy Moss has been healthy for the past month and this was part of their "gamesmanship," for lack of a better word, in preparing for the season opener. All they really did was hack off 5 million fantasy owners who thought he was hurt. Maybe they were too busy getting their cameras ready for the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets! Whatever...finally, it's been a long time since this has been the case, but I'm gonna say it---the Blues may end of having the most successful sports season in St. Louis this year. How sick was that Rams effort Sunday? At least act like you care, that's all I ask. Anyway, here's a quick recap of the games that really matter...

Creamers 125, Benchpressers 72
Pietsch had no problem covering the spread against the Pressers. Antonio Gates seems to be back to his old self and Jon Kitna torched the Raiders for 300+ yards and 3 TDs. One bright spot for Wes was the Vikings D, which was responsible for over half his teams points.

Pietschskins 87, Rampage 52
Troy avoided the upset bug, thanks mostly to the Cowboy combo of Romo and Terrell Owens. All they did was combine for 51 of his 87 points. For Milt, he has two WRs not catch a ball, but the good news is that he can move Ronald Curry to his active roster this week and count all those points he scores.

Carpetbaggers 89, Burrowing Owls 70
Al got a BIG game from the Steelers D and nice efforts from several others, including Big Ben and Joseph Addai to take down his former co-owner. TQ got a great effort from Plaxico, but he may be quiet for a while since he has Grimace throwing to him for the next month. That should be entertaining.

Double Down 79, Kamikaze Maddogs 54
Nice game Steven Jackson! What a dog. At least this league doesn't penalize you for fumbles like the nonkeeper one that I had the #2 pick in. Jerk! He scored negative points for me! A balanced attack led by the Pats D (cheaters), Jay Cutler (he's from Santa Claus, IN---not that you haven't heard that EVERY game he's ever played) and LaMont Jordan took care of things for Daniels. For Scott, it was a great game from Eli Manning, but the injury was not-he's out a month.

Buffet Boys 76, Wild Hogs 66
Hoffman got a lot out of babydaddy Tom Brady & the Ravens D and a little out of a few others-including Jake Delhomme. Of course he was playing the Rams which made him a obvious choice to be active by every fantasy owner in the land. Did I mention how good the Rams looked Sunday? The Hogs may have lost their first ever game in the MVFFL, but don't blame the Chargers D, they did their part.

DePressers 83, Horned Puffins 73
Hud kicked my ass with the Bears D, Randy friggin Moss, DIRECTV (that' my new name for Peyton Manning) and-this one will shock you-Steve Smith. Hey Tye Hill, shut your yapper! It's not really a good idea to run your mouth about "shutting down" one of the 3 best WRs in football. Part of the reason you "shut him down" in the first place last year was because your team's run defense is so bad they didn't need to throw the ball...Go Rams!
